About Us

Over the course of our 30 years, MLM’s success is greatly attributed to the direct involvement of the current Principals, Miguel L. Martin, AIA ("Sr.") and Miguel A. Martin, AIA, Assoc. ASHRAE ("Jr."), with our clients in the day-to-day affairs of our design projects. Father and son partners, MLM is a family-run company with incredible dedication and forethought put into each and every unique project for the success of our clients; many of whom are repeat clients. 

Our firm began with Architect Miguel Lazaro Martin, AIA, working as a solo practitioner in 1981. As the practice grew, the corporate entity was formed to provide greater services with its concentration on the aviation and public sectors with the addition of two architect partners under the name of Perez & Perez/Martin, Inc. in 1992. In 1997, Miguel L. Martin, AIA bought-out the partners and became the President of the company to focus even more intensely on local Central Florida projects. The firm was then renamed MLM-Martin Architects, Inc. ("MLM") to reflect the change.

In 2017, MLM welcomed Miguel A. Martin, AIA, RID, Assoc. ASHRAE, to our 11-person firm as a Principal and Vice President of the corporation. Miguel A. greatly expanded the practice in our specialty areas: aviation services, governmental services to public clients, K-12 education, and utilities/central energy/chiller plants which he is intimately familiar having an engineering background.

Most recently in 2025, we are excited to share an important milestone in the history of our firm. As part of a thoughtful and strategic transition, Miguel A. has assumed the role of President and majority owner of the firm; leading us forward with energy, vision, and a deep commitment to MLM’s mission to transform our client’s dreams into reality. Having worked side by side with his father for years, Miguel A. carries forward the same dedication to our clients, our craft, and to each of you who make this firm what it is. His leadership is rooted in both respect for our history and a clear vision for the future.

Miguel L. founded and shaped the firm into what it is today. He will continue to guide us as Founder and Senior Vice President, ensuring that his wisdom and leadership remain a vital part of our future. While Miguel L. may look ahead to retirement in the coming years, he will remain an active part of our story in the interim and isn’t going anywhere just yet - continuing to share his guidance, mentorship, and passion for design with our staff and lead our clients to continued success with their projects.

This transition reflects the natural evolution of our practice while honoring the legacy that has brought us here. With Miguel A. at the helm and Miguel L. continuing to lend his expertise, our team remains united in delivering the same exceptional service and design excellence our clients know and trust. This transition doesn’t change who we are; it strengthens us while opening doors for new opportunities, growth, and innovation.

Looking ahead, the outlook for our firm is incredibly bright. We are poised for continued growth, innovation, and opportunity — always with the goal of designing meaningful, lasting spaces for our community. And most importantly, we are grateful to be on this journey together with such a talented and dedicated team. 

MLM is passionate about Central Florida where we are deeply invested, but have also expanded our services all over the State of Florida and Out of State. Our minority and disadvantage business certification is a wonderful compliment to our incredibly talented and experienced team on projects both large and small.
